As Realtor®, I’m well-versed in the legal mechanics of selling a home in Austin. But the experience is quite different when it’s you that’s going through the stress of time-lines, inspections, and not-really-being certain that the deal will close until the day of the closing. It takes a lot of trust. I try to remember the following:
- Everything will work out for the highest good.
- This is a benevolent, loving universe.
- Stay present. The present moment is perfect and all I have is the present moment.
I can see a little clearer now why home sellers often plummet into a world of fear. It’s easy to go there through this process if you’re not grounded in some kind spiritual or measured world-view. It’s my aspiration to help clients get connected with peace and trust through reassurance and reminding them to stay in the present moment. We have the ability to choose either peace or anxiety.
The offer that we accepted was lower than we wanted but, like I tell my clients, in order to sell your home you must let go of your expectations about price and let go of your emotional connection to the house.
When your house is on the market, it’s no longer your “home,” it’s a product that will be evaluated by each buyer according to their individual needs and wants.
We have about five weeks until we close until we actually do close, anything could happen. I’ll be staying even closer to my spiritual path. That’s what tough times are so wonderful…it helps me get closer to the truth of who I am.
